In conjunction with the Sound Patterns installation that forms part of SCALA, Tabakalera hosts a conversation between Jane Alden, director of the Vocal Constructivists, and Oier Etxeberria. This conversation will explore the work of Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) and her listening innovations.
Oliveros coined the term deep listening to include awareness of how human consciousness can be affected by paying close attention to the sonic environment. Her work continues to be debated today in various forums, as issues related to listening are increasingly discussed and practiced by musicians, artists, students, teachers and meditators.
The aim of this conversation is to broaden the historical context of her work, to tease out the possibilities it offers for engaged auditory perception in the contemporary world.
Esta conversación tiene por objetivo ampliar el contexto histórico de su trabajo para descubrir las posibilidades que ofrece para la percepción auditiva atenta en el mundo contemporáneo.
