Adonay Bermúdez

 

(Lanzarote, Spain. 1985). Independent curator. 
 

Among his latest exhibitions are those curated for the Instituto Cervantes of Rome, Bòlit Centre d’Art Contemporani in Girona, DA2 in Salamanca, Artpace (Texas, USA), MUDAS – Museo de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira (Portugal), ExTeresa Arte Actual (Mexico), CAC in Quito (Ecuador), TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes and the Museo de Arte Moderno Chiloé (Chile). He was the director of the “Entre islas” International Videoart Festival (2014-2017), guest curator for PlanoLisboa 2016 (Portugal),  was on the Scientific Committee for the Over The Real International Videoart Festival (Italy, 2015, 2016, and 2017), was director of the Espacio Dörffi (2017-2018), curated San Antonio’s Contemporary Art Month (Texas, USA) in 2018, and was collaborating curator for the Fundación César Manrique (2019-2020). In addition, he won the Línea 2 Curator Contest from the Casal Solleric (Mallorca, 2020), the Cultural Projects Contest from the Gran Canaria Espacio Digital 2020 (Spain), and earned a research grant from CAAM – Atlantic Centre for Modern Art (Gran Canaria, 2020). He has published three books, and is currently an art critic for ABC Cultural. He has received residency grants in Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, and Colombia, and frequently holds conferences for spaces such as MACRO Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma (Italy), Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), Universidad de La Laguna (Spain), Universidade da Madeira (Portugal), and E.N.P.E.G. La Esmeralda (Mexico), among others.
