Alex Mendizabal (San Sebastian, 1961). Since he was a child, Alex Mendizabal composed sheet music for groups, orchestras, soloists, rock and paper performers, choirs, etc.
In 1996, he stopped writing, and since then Alex Mendizabal has dedicated himself to building and playing his own instruments. Among his most noteworthy works are the following: Interposed Counterpoints, Dagherrosounds, underwater concerts, Servicio Ahorro de Tiempo (all classical music in 1 minute), micro music, Imitation Project, Blind Cinema, sound installations, silenced silent film, Fraudulent and Freudulent cinema, Music Upsidedown, etc. He is the creator of various groups, including Curva Chiusa, Monnezza Sonora, Zine Animau, Convention, Marching Band, Senior Orchestra, and Dissociazioni Unite AR. He has created more than a dozen operettas (short operas).
Writings and poems can be found in his closets and pockets. Mendizabal has played in all sorts of places, including festivals, museums, and spaces in many countries (Serralves, Portugal; the Music Biennale and 25FPS, Croatia; Visitazioni, M.A.C.R.O., and the Venice Biennale, Italy; Pépète Lumière, Nantes, Bayonne, France; Anthology Film Archive, San Francisco Cinemateque, and the Whitney Museum, the United States; La Casa Encendida, Reina Sofía Museum, and MACBA, Spain; Ghent, Belgium; the Rotterdam Film Festival, the Netherlands; Ertz, Tabakalera, and Larraskito, the Basque Country; and Cafe Otto, the United Kingdom; among others).
