He trained as a calligrapher at the Roehampton Institute. At the age of 15 he began to work with calligraphy on his own, inspired by the posters of heavy metal groups of the 1980s. In his project Old Tool Types he combines the disciplines of calligraphy, lettering and type design. He has carried out projects as diverse as lettering for beer labels, logos for sweets and even typography for visual identity, all following the same motto of “Think with ink!” (Think with ink!)

In 2011, for the type Niebuhr Antikva, he received the honorary prize from the Danish Association of Book Crafts. His latest work includes logos for Carlsberg beers and image and typography for Kissmeyer Brewing, a new brand of craft beer.
