Amaia Vicente is an artist and researcher. She is currently working on her PhD at the Faculty of Fine Arts, in the Department of Art and Technology. In 2016 she completed an International Master’s Degree in Contemporary, Technological and Performative Art, carried out in both the UPV/EHU with an Erasmus+ Research grant, and in the “Interface Culture” master’s course at Kunst Universität Linz, Austria. In 2010 she also studied for a Master’s Degree in Feminist and Gender Studies. 

In 2023 she has exhibited at Fire Station Creative, Scotland, at Kiezkapelle, Berlin, and at the MEM Festival at the Guggenheim Bilbao. In 2022 she exhibited at Filet, London, England, and at Espacio Marzana in Bilbao; and in 2021 at the ADIIF Festival, Cannes Film Festival, France, at FemTourTrack, the international festival of feminist video creation, in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as at the BAD Festival, Festival de Teatro y Danza Contemporánea, 23rd Edition, Sala Bilborock 2021. In 2020 she exhibited as part of the VALA collective in the Sala del Depósito de Aguas, in Montehermoso, Vitoria-Gasteiz. In 2019 she did so at MEM, the International Festival of Experimental Art, Bilbao. In 2018 she had an exhibition at WRO Art Center, curated by AIR WRO, in Wroclaw, Poland, and also at the festival “SHE DEVIL X. RESISTERS”, Studio Stefania Miscetti, in Rome. In 2017 she exhibited at AFO, Architekturforum Oberösterreich, in Linz, Austria; at Fabra i Coats, Centre d’Art Contemporani, Barcelona; and in 2016 at “Radical Atoms and the alchemists of our time”, at Ars Electronica Festival, in Linz, Austria; at LAB30 Festival, Augsburg, Germany; and at the exhibition “Bilbao-Bregenz: 10 Jahre Künstleraustausch”, curated by Kunsthaus, in Bregenz, Austria.

She has been awarded various residency grants such as at Villa Guarini, in Salento, Puglia, Italy (2019), at AIR Wro with the Institu Etxepare Institua, in Poland, in “Piazzetta Durante. VitrinaX”, in Naples, Italy, (2018), as well as with the LinzIMPORT Project, curated by Txema Aguiriano and Enrique Tomás in Linz, Austria (2017), at AFO Architekturforum Oberösterreich in Linz, Austria. She has given talks and workshops: in 2022, “Immaterial: The Wrong Biennale”, Tabakalera, San Sebastian; in 2021, at BAGI in the Bilbaoarte Foundation, and also in 2021 in “Inmersiones”, Zas Espazioa Kultur, Vitoria-Gasteiz; in 2018 in “Soundscape Of Wroclaw”, Workshop, Barbara, Strefa Kultury Wrocław, Wroclaw, Poland; and in 2017 at Technarte, Bilbao.
