Antonio A. García

Antonio A. García is a professor of sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid and is a member of the Sociología Ordinaria research group.

His research was initially based on the question of masculinities and their contemporary ways of fortifying their position from a gender perspective, and he applied this focus to his doctoral thesis on cinematic representations and embodiments of virility between the nineteen-sixties and nineteen-nineties.

From there, he has extended his interests to include the sociology of the body and emotions and the analysis of everyday discomforts and exclusions, always paying special attention to the dynamics of masculinity that operate within these.
