In this session of Hiria Hackeatu-Young people, city and makers, we will work collectively to create a Boombox or sound system, which will be installed later at a location in the city for collective use.
Boombox is a collaborative sound system designed by Sergio Galán and produced for the first time by a group of young people from Madrid's Semilla association. This project explores the use of public spaces as meeting places and centres of coexistence, and is specifically based on the habit of many young people to meet up and play music together.
The Boombox initiative means to provide young people with the opportunity to reflect on how public spaces should be through the use of music and technology. The goal is to encourage participants' innovative capacities, so that they do not limit themselves to using technology as a simple tool, instead making them their own and using them to transform their city and their surroundings.
