Carla Andrade

Carla Andrade (Vigo, 1983) An artist working in photography and audiovisual arts, Carla Andrade holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and is currently studying Philosophy. This intersection between means of visual expression and something closer to reflection and to the world of ideas is one of the defining facets of her work. Travel is also inherent in her creative process, and she has conducted artistic residencies in Iceland, Sweden, Bilbao, Morocco, La Rioja, Nepal, Chile and Paris. She has exhibited her solo work in MAC Gas Natural Fenosa in A Coruña, CDAN in Huesca, the Colegio de España in Paris, Galería Trinta in Santiago de Compostela, the Aldama Fabre gallery in Bilbao, Fundación BilbaoArte and Casa das Artes in Vigo, amongst others. Her collective work has been shown in contemporary art venues including Museo Guggenheim in Bilbao, MARCO in Vigo, La Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, 104 in Paris, and at photography and film festivals such as PhotoEspaña, Mois de la Photo (Paris), Encontros da Imagem (Portugal), Zinebi (Bilbao), Filmadrid, Curtocircuito (Santiago de Compostela), Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival and (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico (A Coruña). She has also exhibited in countries including the USA, Brazil, Romania, Sweden, Germany, the UK, France, Taiwan, South Korea and Portugal. Her awards include First Prize in Plastic Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (2014), First Prize Absolut//Emerging Artists Casa//Arte (2013), the Franc Vila Acquisition Prize from Galería Luis Adelantado (2013), the Women-Forum-Dialogue Prize from Alliançe Française / Pilar Citoler (2012), runner-up in the SUMMA 2015 Madrid Photography Prize, and others. She has been the recipient of grants from Injuve, BilbaoArte, VEGAP, Agadic, and a Grant for Artistic Creation Abroad from Gas Natural Fenosa. Her work has also been included in several national and international publications.
