This travelling project seeks to consider the possibilities held out by self-build and open technologies, by means of a prototype home with self-produced citizen devices.
#Caseando is a travelling project launched by VIC (vivero de iniciativas ciudadanas - citizen initiative nursery). It is an open, collaborative platform which is meant to promote and support citizen initiative propositions. #Caseando seeks to consider the possibilities held out by self-build and open technologies, by means of a prototype home with self-produced citizen devices. Using a metal structure designed to evoke a home, the project attempts to publicise different amateur devices and prototypes that could serve for building the city from our homes.
#Caseando centres on the idea of making a city from the private sphere, from the home. And based on this idea, and by starting from a prototype home, it seeks to propose a programme in which it is possible to create self-produced citizen devices using open and accessible technologies.
#Caseando is a travelling project which is gathering knowledge and practices. It travels from one place to another with the idea of pollinating and activating spaces for self-manufacture. First created in La Casa Encendida, it has been staged in spaces such as Intermediae (Matadero) and Etopia (Zaragoza). From May to September 2016 it will be housed in the Plaza at Tabakalera.
Under the leadership of the Mediation team at Tabakalera and Hirikilabs (a citizen laboratory of digital culture and technology), two lines of work are proposed for this new stage of #Caseando, which will be presented on 6 May (7:00 pm):
Space 06: A process centring on reflection on spaces for cobreeding. The idea is to design, collectively build and develop colearning practices based on a process that will be further enhanced with talks, experiences, etc. launched by other agents. From domestic to public and from public to domestic, breeding has to occupy more spaces and we think that #caseando is a metaphor for what this process seeks.
Programme of self-manufacture and open technology for the domestic area. Following the initial line of #caseando we will develop a series of workshops that allow exploration of the possibilities of open technology and self-manufacture in the domestic area. These include: An Arduino-based irrigation system, a 3D-printed bird house, a conductive cushion,...
During its time at the Plaza at Tabakalera over the coming months, #Caseando will undoubtedly also act as a meeting place for other initiatives.
