David Zapirain

PhD in History. Along with Larraitz Arretxea and Carlos Mora, David Zapirain was one of the founders of Ereiten (2003).

His clear weakness for Mortadelo did not make him forget that Ironman comic that a friend, Jesus, gave him when they were in kindergarten. When he was at the farm, his cousin lent him the X-Patrol and Spiderman collections. David would swap comics with other children on the school bus. When he was at high school in Bidebieta, he discovered Valérian and Cimoc (… and Laureline!). There were no comics at university. Habekomik and Napartheid helped him to learn Basque at the euskaltegi (school for learning Basque language). He also knew that he would never have as great a job as Napartehid’s fanzinoteka (fanzine). He can always brag of having worked with Dani Fano on a comic strip published in the Xabiroi magazine. At neither time, nor even when Ereiten joined Komikigune, did it occur to David that one day he would be working with Tabakalera on a comic exhibition.
