Eginzaleak! is a meeting point to highlight the value of the culture of doing, bringing together projects developed around collaborative dynamics, digital culture, and open practices. This is a showcase that serves as a demonstration of the work carried out at Medialab, while also extending an invitation to participate in these and other projects, along with agents that share similar logics.
This year, the meeting will once again present key themes such as sustainability and reuse, with particular attention paid to their treatment through art and textiles.
Throughout the entire day, a practice space will be rolled out on Tabakalera’s 3rd floor with the aim of repairing, reusing, and transforming clothing and fabrics. Thanks to the collaboration and research of Estudio Bokashi, this creation space will see the activation of four stations to reuse and transform textiles led by various agents and collectives involved in fashion, creation, and sustainability:
-Upcycling – Sandra Linio, Clara Virgili, Jaione Anzola, and Alex Hug
-Custom – Aritz de la Hera and Puntada Bastarda
-Stamping – Ane Baztarrika, Valeria Irisarri, and Urtzi Urkixo (Voltaire Lab)
-Wardrobe – Kika Merino, Julene Gregorio, and Markel Gonzalez
Participation in this practice space will be open to all, so that the public can try out different stations, dare to create, and dive deeper into the topic of sustainability.
In addition to the stations that will be active throughout the entire day, we have prepared the following programme:
11:30-13:30 – Corsets with sports jerseys– Ane Arana – Ticketed Event
We will learn how to transform sports jerseys into corsets using simple techniques and basic materials, without the need for boning. The main goal is to encourage creativity and sustainability in clothing design, while also exploring new ways of using and giving new life to sportswear.
17:00-19:00 – Tube tops for all – Alex Hug – Ticketed Event
Tube tops are magical articles of clothing with the versatility to adapt to many functions, such as corsets, girdles, belts, tops, and any other use imaginable. Using leftover fabric and scraps, we will create these amazing pieces capable of embellishing any wardrobe. We will transform the way we see these small pieces of fabric into an inexhaustible source of creativity and expression.
19:30-20:00 – Betile crocanti audiovisual presentation
Betile crocanti is an experimental collaborative space that Medialab has been operating since September 2023 to reconvert marginalised, discarded, or used materials, and transform them, sew them, or manipulate them into new skins, bones, and structures. The group has been led into the present by Maider Aldasoro, Estela Miguel (Proyecto Hemen), Mikel Ruiz Pejenaute (JALEO), Estudio Bokashi (previously The Eko Lab), and Dogartzi Magunagoicoechea (Divinoteca), and has enjoyed the participation of a broad community of individuals involved with these practices. In this session, some of the process results will be presented, and an audiovisual piece created by the group will be shown.
