Estibaliz Sádaba Murguía is an artist and a PhD in Art and Research. In recent years she has carried out projects for a number of artistic institutions in the Basque Country, Spain and other European countries, and her work has been displayed in many museums and art centres.

Her work takes place in a cross-cutting and interdisciplinary way between curating, mediation and artistic practice. Her artistic proposals seek to create spaces for dialogue, meeting, reflection and debate that enable an analysis of the context we live in.

In her latest projects, and always through the media of sound, photography, video and performance, she has sought to instigate a reflection on the historical difficulty of women’s relationship with the public space and their reclusion in the domestic sphere, in both rural and urban environments.

A co-founder of the Erreakzioa-Reacción collective (1994), she has co-directed a number of seminars-workshops on artistic practices, activism, feminism and Queer theory at Arteleku (Donostia, 1995-1997-2003-2006), Sala Rekalde (Bilbao, 2008), or Bizbak EHU/UPV (Bilbao, 2011), among others. She has also been the publisher or co-publisher of different publications, such as Intersticios, Erreakzioa, Joyas y Caprichos, Series Múltiples, etc., and has given numerous conferences in different Museums, Art Centres and universities across Spain.

Her recent work as a curator have included the projects Reactivando videografías (Spanish Academy in Rome AECID, 2020-2022), Archivos, registros necesarios (Bizkaia Aretoa EHU/UPV 2020). As for her latest individual exhibitions, worth highlighting are Subversiones (Albumarte Gallery, Rome, 2021) , Desdoméstica (Bilbaoarte, Bilbao 2020), Las Filanderas (MUSAC León, 2017). She has also participated in artistic residencies in the Spanish Academy in Rome (2016, 2018), Centro de Art y Natura Farrera (Lleida, 2018), or La Cité des Arts in Paris (2016).
