What is the relationship between the beginning of cinema in Portugal, the murderer Diogo Alves, the anthropomorphical landscape, the phrenology theories, the colonization maps in Africa and Joseph Conrad? All these elements are in the origin of the unfinished filmic project by Carlos Muguiro and Sergio Oksman that the filmmakers will share with the assistants of this workshop dedicated to think about the filmic essay.
Relying on above mentioned elements and others that are part of the image warehouse or the curiosity cabinet of the filmmakers, the workshop will propose the assistants to incorporate to an already started creative process. It will be a time for dialogue, shared reflection and decision making about a film that doesn’t exist yet. During 4 sessions the workshop will go deep in the creative dilemmas of the hypothetical film about the Evil’s geography, in the same time, detours will be made to the work of other authors and references on film essay and filmic portrait related to the project.
