Fran Meana

Fran Meana (Avilés, 1982) lives and works in London. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo (2006), where he completed doctorate courses and obtained a Diploma of Advanced Studies (2009). He was subsequently awarded the title of Master (MFA) at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam (2012).

He has participated in exhibitions that include Labour, Motion and Machinery, TENT, Rotterdam (2015), Machines for Hardrock, Avalanche, London (2015), Percussive Hunter, Akbank Sanat, Istanbul, (2015), Feel the Discourse, Guest Projects, London (2015), The Immaterial Material, NoguerasBlanchard, Madrid (2014), Aprender a Caer, La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2014), Hiperobjetos, COAM, Madrid (2014), Las propiedades extrañas, Liquid Space, Gijon (2014), El perímetro interno, Instituto Francés, Barcelona (2013), Somewhere Else, NoguerasBlanchard, Barcelona (2014), La cuestión del Paradigma, Centre d'Art La Panera, Lleida (2011) and Bringing up knowledge, MUSAC, León (2010).

His work has been supported by grants that include the Startstipendium by Mondriaan Fonds (2013), Stichting Promotieprijs (2012) and HSP Huygens-NUFFIC (2011) and his work is part of the collections of institutions such as ARTIUM, CGAC and NOMAS Foundation.

He also collaborates with the Koestler Trust as tutor.
