Gala Knörr has a degree in Fine Arts from Parsons Paris The New School, an MFA from Central Saint Martins, and has complemented her training with workshops and masterclasses led by Txomin Badiola, Richard Linklater and Mick Wilson. Starting from the pictorial, she has also worked in other media such as video, installation or writing, exploring issues related to media and popular culture. She has received awards and scholarships such as Generation 2020 from the Fundación Montemadrid, XXIV VEGAP Proposals and Creation-Production from the Department of Culture and Language Policy of the Basque Government, she has also been a finalist for Obra Abierta Caja de Extremadura Foundation, the Fundació Vila Casas Painting Prize, the Miquel Casablancas Award and selected for the BMW Painting Award. She has done residencies at Tabakalera (San Sebastián), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), The Solomon R Guggenheim Museum (New York), AIR Wro (Wroclaw), Centre for Postcolonial Studies at Goldsmiths (London) and Fundación Bilbaoarte (Bilbao) among others.
Her work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao), DA2 (Salamanca), CentroCentro (Madrid), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Genalguacil Pueblo Museum (Genalguacil), Fundación Carlos de Amberes (Madrid), Salón ACME (Mexico CDMX), Pablo’s Birthday (Nueva York), Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitoria-Gasteiz), SB34-The Pool (Bruselas), Galeria T20 (Murcia), Museo Memoria de Andalucía (Granada), Museu de Belles Arts (Castellón de la Plana), La Térmica (Málaga), Fabra i Coats Fàbrica de Creació (Barcelona), Le Port de Créateurs (Toulon) and Museo Carmen Thyssen (Málaga).
