Goldfinger, Guy Hamilton, UK, 1964, 108 min DCP 4K, OV EN, Sub ES
Remastered 4K DCP. International re-release at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival, Berlinale Classics.
Goldfinger is the third James Bond film and also the third starring Sean Connery. On this occasion, British agent 007 confronts Auric Goldfinger, an evil gold-smuggling mogul, in order to prevent him from carrying out his plan to destabilise the world economy.
At its premiere, the film had all the necessary elements to establish the 007 phenomenon internationally: suspense, humour, adventure and romance. And after the success of Goldfinger, Guy Hamilton directed three more Bond films, and many of the elements introduced in this film would appear in many of the following James Bond films, such as the extensive use of technology and gadgets and the initial presentation of the character with the completion of a mission that had nothing to do with the rest of the film.
The international re-release of the copy restored by Park Circus took place at the 2015 Berlin Festival, in the Berlinale Classics section.
