AWWZ b2b AI Dj is a collaboration between Awwz Dj and producer, and the team of researchers and engineers of artificial intelligence and sound of the UPC - Barcelona Tech: Mireia de Gracia, Casimiro Pio and Marta Ruiz Costa-Jussà.
This show intertwines genre classification with artificial intelligence, performance and audience participation. The performance plays at the intersection of the AI's genre classification and its own ability to be a DJ. A specially trained AI, after analysing YouTube comments from an extensive library of tracks, to suggest and launch songs in a "back to back" Dj Set. The selection of song responses proposed by the AI are chosen by the human DJ "AWWZ" in a collaborative process, inviting the audience to reflect on questions related to the concept of musical taste and a DJ's ability to "read" the audience. This experimental dj set also serves to point to new paths in the future of Djing.
