Iñaki Imaz's work is primarily pictorial. Painting is a means of expression rather than an end in itself. In his work the artist adopts an attitude of irony and disbelief, questioning the authority of the image of the artist as genius. Under the abstract appearance, Imaz’s three-dimensional pictures and interventions address issues such as the family, separation, personal experiences, desire, love, the figure, but also issues such as the boundaries of painting. His paintings work as an analogy of the border between the individual and the collective, including a leisure and educational component in all his activities.
