This 29th edition of the festival FIPA takes place in Biarritz from January 24th to 29th. It is dedicated to audiovisuals for TV: dramas, series, creative documentaries, reports, performing visual arts and transmedia. Over 6 days, international professionals give talks on and debate the relationship between a contemporary audiovisual image and the public(s). In response to the invitation to programme a film as a Carte Blanche, FIPA brings us Inkotanyi, by Christophe Cotteret. The projection will be presented by François Sauvagnargues, Artistic Director of the festival.

Inkotanyi, Christophe Cotteret, France, Belgium, 2017, 126', OV with Spanish subtitles, DCP.

Rwanda, July 1994. The best trained and most disciplined rebellion on the African continent put an end to the last genocide of the 20th century, that of the Rwandan Tutsi. The protagonists were called the Inkotanyi. They were led by the current president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.

Since their formation in Uganda in the early 1980s up to the present day, the Inkotanyi have shaken up the Great Lakes region, hotbed of the most murderous violence since the Second World War.

For the first time, Inkotanyi sheds light on the life of this politico-military movement and on Rwandan power structures, through the voices of its principal actors.
