Laura Vallés Vílchez (Castellón de la Plana, 1984) works as a curator, editor, and researcher. She studied Fine Arts and completed a Master’s Degree in Photography at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, an experience that brought her to Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, among other achievements. In 2022, she completed her Doctorate at the Royal College of Art London, where she resides, teaches curating, and directed the European project 4Cs From Conflict to Conviviality through Creativity and Culture.
Her teaching work began thanks to a grant from the Fundación Botín and is nourished by the work that she carries out as co-founder and editor of Concreta: an editorial that publishes a magazine as well as a series of books, building upon previous experiences at institutions with one foot in teaching environments and the other in the public sphere. This is the case with Afterall in London, an editorial organisation linked to Central Saint Martins, where she worked in 2009 before moving to the MoCP at Chicago's Columbia University in 2010.
As a curator, she has organised exhibitions such as Te toca a ti (EACC, 2018), 15.600 días. She has led conferences at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Arts, SOAS, Universidad de Granada, and the UPV, and has translated the works of authors including Isabelle Stengers, Donna Haraway, Moyra Davey, and Paul B. Preciado.
