Lola Mayo

Lola Mayo is a screenwriter and film professor.

She is the producer and co-writer of director Javier Rebollo’s work. Together with Javier Rebollo and Damián París, they founded the production company Lolita Films 25 years ago, which is dedicated to unorthodox and art house film.

Lola has directed documentaries for the Documentos TV space, for TVE, and has earned the Reina Sofía Award for Journalism.

She is a Documentary professor at the Carlos III University in Madrid. Lola teaches narrative and is a tutor for projects at the ECAM, the Instituto de Cine de Madrid, and the Escuela Audiovisual Lens. She directs the Feminist Laboratory for Documentary Creation at Barcelona’s Centro Francesca Bonnemaison.

She has worked on the programmes for the DocumentaMadrid and Alcine festivals, and teaches film to school children as part of the Cine en Curso project.

From 2015 to 2017, Lola coordinated the Documentary Professorship at the Escuela Internacional de Cine in San Antonio de los Baños.

She is currently writing her first solo film project entitled “Libertad, igualdad, fraternidad”, a fictional documentary hybrid that she is developing through the Academia del Cine Español Residency Programme.
