Maite Aizpurua Olaizola

 

Born in Zumaia in 1990 and raised in the gorge.

A person with a limp who questions and has an insatiable curiosity. Studied Sociology and Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of the Basque Country (San Sebastián and Bilbao) and at the Federal University of Bahia (Salvador da Bahía, Brazil).

Has been involved in the social and feminist movement since childhood. Now combines artistic and social research with activism. Her latest work, Erresistentzia arazo fisikoa da (Resistance is a Physical Problem), a biographical and stage research project that explores how contemporary codes are dramatised and performed, addresses themes such as disabilism and fattism and draws on her own experience as a person with a limp.

She has collaborated with the Metrokoadroka collective since 2017 and is a member of the Horman Poster collective for stage creation, working on production and artistic educational projects.
