Born in Bilbao in 1976, María Ptqk is a curator, researcher and cultural manager specialising in the intersections between the arts and techno-scientific culture. She holds a PhD in artistic research from the UPV-EHU, a degree in Law and a degree in Economic Sciences, a DEA in International Public Law from Paris II - Sorbonne and Cultural Law from the Uned - Carlos III in Madrid. She has curated the exhibitions “Soft Power” (Amarika Proiektua Project, Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2009; Bizbak, Bilbao, 2010), “A propósito del Chthuluceno y sus especies compañeras” (Espace virtuel du Jeu de Paume, Paris, 2017), “Ciencia fricción. Vida entre especies compañeras” (CCCB Barcelona and Azkuna Zentroa, Bilbao, Finalist of the Asociaciò Catalana de Crítica d' Art Awards, 2019-2021), “Extinción Remota Detectada” (LABoral, Gijón, 2022), “Reset Mar Menor. Laboratorio de imaginarios para un paisaje en crisis” (El Carme Centre of Contemporary Culture, Valencia, 2021). She has been a member of the scientific committee of the Culture and Citizenship Meeting 2020 (Ministry of Culture), the programming committee of ISEA Paris 2023 (International Symposium on Electronic Art) and the curatorial team of GenderArtNet (European Cultural Foundation, 2009). She has published, among others, “Le vivant” (thematic dossier for La Gaité Lyrique, Paris, 2014) and the collective books “Breve historia del pimiento para uso de la vida extraterrestre” (2017), “Especies del Chthuluceno. Panorama de prácticas para un planeta herido” (2019) and “Laboratorios ciudadanos: una aproximación a Medialab Prado” (2021). She is currently a curator of the international image festival Getxophoto (2023-2025) and collaborates as a consultant with the art publisher and producer consonni and with the Chaire Arts & Sciences (École polytechnique, l'École des Arts Décoratifs – PSL, Fondation Daniel et Nina Carasso).
