A historian by training, translator by trade, and teacher/researcher by vocation, Marta Malo discovered the social and political potential of (then) new technologies under the ethos of open source software in the CSOA El Laboratorio's Telematics Department and, later on, with the stand-alone server sindominio.net. Thanks to the generosity and patience of numerous engineers, she was able to develop a critical intimacy with the technology that would open the doors to outside tinkering at the service of collective research and needs.

In 2010, she became a mother of two, and in 2014, she and a group of committed teaches embarked on a journey to rework the pedagogical process of a public school in a suburban neighbourhood (El Pozo, Madrid). Within this framework, together with Margarita Padilla, she started a school workshop to bring technology to the youngest of children. The workshop, which is still operating, is not just a space for children to learn, but also a laboratory to develop low-cost robotic education that breaks elitist, sexist, fetishist, and privatising trends, and lets boys and girls make technology (their own), based on their unique emotions and curiosities, beyond the restrictive environment of kits.
