Mary Ocher has tenaciously produced work which is passionate, convincing, natural, provocative and socially relevant. Her creativity goes against the grain to deal with issues including authority, identity and conflict. Her work is as captivating as it is polarising, ranging from traditional folk to 1960s garage, from ambient sounds featuring ethereal voices and abstract synthesisers to experimental pop with African and South American beats. She has released four studio albums on five records during the last six years, along with a double anthology of home recordings, two EPs and two mix collections. Her last solo release was produced by the Canadian psych rock guru King Khan.
Her recent album The West Against the People was released on the Klangbad label and produced by its founder Hans Joachim Irmler, of the legendary krautrock group Faust. Renowned artists Felix Kubin and the legendary Die Tödliche Doris feature on the record. It is now onto its second release and features in various ‘Best of 2017’ lists. Ocher has toured the album in 23 countries so far. She also recently released the 10” vinyl Faust Studio Sessions and Other Recordings, featuring collaborations with Julia Kent and Hans Unstern.
