Mein Langsames Leben, (Passing Summer), Angela Schanelec, Alemania, 2000, 85'
While her friend moves to Rome to spend half the year there, a student in the late 1920s experiences the large and small ups and downs of summer life in Berlin. An elliptical sequence of subtly interconnected urban scenes follows, whose contemplative narrative style takes us beyond the philosophical-anthropological dimensions of the bourgeois lifestyle. Above all, the sophisticated extension of the cinematic space beyond the screen and the strict lack of communication of the characters allows a very sensual illustration of the eccentric basic structure of human existence.
