Mercè Oliva

Mercè Oliva has a PhD in Social Communication (Pompeu Fabra University, 2010) and a degree in Audiovisual Communication (UPF, 2002). She is a professor in the Communication Department of the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), where she coordinates the MEDIUM research group and is responsible for the Degree in Audiovisual Communication. She is a specialist in popular culture, media, television and video games. In her work, she analyses the relationships between media culture and neoliberal imaginaries. She has published articles in academic journals such as the European Journal of Cultural Studies, Convergence, Games and Culture and Celebrity Studies and is author of the book Telerrealidad, Disciplina e Identidad: Los Makeover Shows en España (UOC, 2013)
