A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy, Woody Allen, USA, 1982, 88’ OV with Basque subtitles

Woody Allen takes Bergman’s Smiles of a Summer Night, gouges it with touches of Jean Renoir’s 1939 film, La règle du jeu, to serve up his own very special version of love muddles and love intrigue, set at the beginning of the XX century in a country house just outside New York city. The result is a funny, fast-moving comedy in which Woody Allen himself plays a somewhat dim-witted inventor, and Mia Farrow makes her first appearance in a Woody Allen film.
