Arrasate/Mondragón, 1991. Mikel Escobales graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (2012) and completed the joint Master of History of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture run by the Complutense University of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid at MNCARS (2016). Mikel Escobales has staged solo exhibitions at Fundación Blueproject, Barcelona (2019), Aldama Fabre Gallery, Bilbao (2018) and Hasenheide [A1] 9, Berlin (2016), in addition to collective shows at AZPI, Donostia/San Sebastián (2019), San Andreu Contemporary, Barcelona (2018), Koldo Mitxelena, Donostia/San Sebastián (2018), Fundación Bilbao Arte, Bilbao (2017) and the Wangjiang Campus Gymnasium, Chengdu (2017). Mikel has completed residencies at institutions such as the Guggenheim, New York (2022) as part of the “Basque artist program”; Gasworks (2021), among others.
