
Mónica Bello (Santiago de Compostela, 1973) is a curator and art historian. Since 2015, she has directed Arts at CERN, the artistic programme at CERN in Geneva. In this role, she oversees the laboratory’s various artistic initiatives, leading the design and implementation of artistic residencies, new commissions and exhibitions. Among her most notable initiatives are the creation of the CERN Art and Science Summit and the exhibition Exploring the Unknown, the inaugural exhibition of the CERN Science Gateway. In 2023, her work at CERN was recognised with the S+T+ARTS Prize for Innovative Collaboration from the European Commission. Throughout her career, she has focused on the intersection of disciplines, fostering international collaborations between cultural and scientific institutions and supporting new models of practice in contemporary culture. Her recent curatorial projects include Dark Matters, at the Science Gallery Melbourne; Perpetual Motion, with artist Sigurður Guðjónsson for the Icelandic Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale; Transits, at the Reykjavík Art Museum; Quàntica, CCCB Barcelona; and HALO, an exhibition as part of the Audemars Piguet Art Commission for Art Basel.
