The film takes place in the city-county of Fengjie, one of those affected by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. The disappeared city, already covered by the waters, is followed by the demolition of the existing buildings. Han Sanming is a miner who travels to Fengjie in search of his ex-wife and daughter, whom he has not seen for 16 years after being separated by the police. In the ruined city he finds a strange shelter. For its part, and in parallel, the film introduces us to Shen Hong, a nurse who travels to Fengjie in search of her husband, who has not returned home for two years and who runs a demolition company. Motivated by a series of memories, the intention of the reunion is not to return to her husband, but to settle a deep conflict.
