Niño de Elche

Francisco Contreras, aka Niño de Elche (1985) is an interdisciplinary artist and former flamenco singer whose work blends flamenco, free improvisation, krautrock and electronic, electroacoustic and contemporary music with poetry, performance, dance and theatre.

The hybrid nature of his approach is revealed in the heterogeneity of the works to which he is able to contribute as an artist and musician: from his participation in Documenta 14 with La farsa monea together with the artists Pedro G. Romero and the flamenco dancer Israel Galván, to the musical collaboration with groups like Los Planetas and C. Tangana. He has also starred in films such as Niños somos todos by director Sergi Cameron and written autobiographical essays. Finally, it is worth highlighting the work carried out for the Collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the work Auto Sacramental Invisible, una representación sonora a partir de Val del Omar, where his predisposition to research and historical reconstruction is appreciated.
