Tabakalera's audiovisual laboratory collaborates with the British Council to offer the “Future Screens Film Lab: From Short to Feature” workshop, a film training program aimed at emerging filmmakers and future industry leaders. During the program, participants will explore the similarities and differences of the creative process behind producing a short and a feature-length film with the filmmaker Samm Haillay.

Within the framework of this workshop, and as a case study, we will screen FEMME in the cinema, a debut film that won three awards at the British Independent Film Awards and whose production comes from the short film of the same title nominated for the BAFTA SHORTS in 2022. The producer Haley Williams will be with us sharing her experience and answering questions from the audience.

Synopsis:

"Jules' life and career as a drag queen are destroyed by a brutal homophobic attack. Some time after that event he encounters Preston, one of his attackers, in a gay sauna. He wants revenge."
