Itziar Ugarte Irizar

A journalist in the culture section of the newspaper Berria, she has also collaborated in
other publications, including the magazines Argia and Jakin. She was a member of the
literary group Itu Banda and published some of her first literary works in the magazine
Lekore promoted by the group. Her first collection of poems, Gu gabe ere (2021), won
the Spanish Critics' Prize and the Lauaxeta Prize. With the short story Beraneantea
(2020) she won a prize in the Gabriel Aresti literary competition in Bilbao. She also
works in the field of publishing at the Susa publishing house.
