Director, scriptwriter, and producer. Her début feature, Ana by Day (2018), which she also produced, was included in more than 30 national and international festivals, earning 12 awards that culminated with her nomination for Best New Director at the Goya Awards in 2019, as well as at the Spanish Cinema Writers Circle Awards (CEC, Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos). Jaurrieta just premièred her second feature film Nina at the 2024 Malaga Film Festival, where she won the Special Critics Jury Biznaga de Plata Award.
Previously, her short films were selected at multiple festivals, and several of her video creations have been exhibited at Spanish and international cultural institutions. In 2015, she was Pedro Almodóvar's director apprentice on the film Julieta. Jaurrieta's film projects have received grants from the Spanish Royal Academy in Rome (film scholar with Ana by Day), the Madrid Student Residency Programme (creation scholar with Ana by Day), the Spanish Film Academy Residency Programme, and the Torino Feature Lab (both with Nina), among others.
She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communications from the Complutense University of Madrid, where she was recognised with the Best Director Award in her class. Jaurrieta has also completed a Master’s Programme in Film Direction from the ESCAC, and is a Graduate of the Dramatic Arts Programme at the Laboratorio William Layton. Jaurrieta combines her film projects with her work as a Professor of Directing, Acting, and Film History at various speciality schools, as well as Nebrija University in Madrid. She has also taught a Master Class on film at the Sorbonne in Paris, the ECAM, the Complutense University of Madrid, and the ESCAC in Barcelona.
Since 2019, she has been a member of the Spanish Academy of Film. Jaurrieta opened Lasai Producciones in 2020, with which she has begun developing other emerging directors’ projects such as El Querer and Macramé, and co-produced her new film Nina.
