How to interact with journalists and algorithms

Tabakalera and Europa Creativa Desk MEDIA Euskadi are organizing in collaboration the workshop “How to interact with journalists and algorithms” aimed at filmmakers and production companies in order to address the relationship between press and artist at film festivals or markets.

The workshop entitled ‘How to Interact With Journalists and Algorithms’ is geared towards filmmakers with the aim of taking a realistic approach towards addressing the press-artist relationship. It offers tools to navigate our complex, hyper-connected reality and answer two key questions: what to communicate to the media, and how to control your online presence and image.

The learning method is based on specific cases using a best-practice analysis that searches for and highlights successful communication profiles on a national and international level.

Mariaje González Flor is a journalist and expert in digital content. She has worked as a film journalist for more than a decade. Mariaje has spent more than 20 years creating and managing digital content, ten of which at Microsoft News, first in publishing and then as manager of monetisation in Spain. She now directs her own digital education project Criteriomil, through which she offers training, conferences, and consulting services. Mariaje is also Co-Secretary General of UNESCO’s MIL Alliance.

María Guerra is director of the series and film podcast 'La Script' produced by The StoryLab, a programme that offers in-depth interviews with leading figures from the audiovisual industry. She has worked for 26 years at Cadena Ser (1993-2018), where she created La Script in 2011, which was later distributed through Movistar+.  Since 1993, she has covered international festivals (Cannes, Venice, San Sebastian), and has led galas for the Oscars, Golden Globes, and the Goya Awards for the radio and Movistar +. María is the president of the AICE, the film journalist association that holds the Feroz awards for film and series.
