Mercedes Vicente

Mercedes Vicente is an independent curator and art critic in London. She completed her doctorate in the Royal College of Art in London on the work of the pioneering video artist from New Zealand, Darcy Lange.  Vicente was contemporary art curator at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Zealand and later held the role of Darcy Lange Curator-at-Large in the same institution. She has organised several exhibitions about Lange’s work in international institutions such as Camera Austria, Ikon Gallery, Cabinet, Yale University, Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló and NTU CCA Singapore. She edited the monograph titled Darcy Lange: Study of an Artist at Work (Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and Ikon Gallery, 2008; Spanish edition, Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló, 2012), and has published articles about the artist in Camera Austria International and Documenta 12 Magazine no.3, Education (Taschen, 2007).
