I conduct analogue, photographic, anonymous archive research and intervene using direct illustration. Working with intervention allows me to reinvent the narrative behind each image to create a collection which takes on its own importance, capable of combining the past with a ‘new idea’ brought in by the graphic interpretation.
I also work with another two areas of research: ethnobotanical representation, and the collective imagination built around this discipline.
Both approaches lay the ground in this residency for experimenting with materials, formats and sizes which bring another dimension to the work, including textiles, transfer, stamping and projections.
Lastly, I work with the idea of bringing this entire process together in a self-published work which acts as a book, book-object, illustrated book...
