Born and raised in Bilbao, Elena Caballero — better known as La Basu — is a true music lover and a particular fan of rap, soul, dance hall, reggae, R&B, rock, punk and even flamenco.

She discovered hip hop culture in the late 90s, and in 1999 created her first female rap group called Jungla Urbana. She made her first demo in 2001, called #k. Towards the end of 2013 she released a new maxi single called Remixes, leading to her first record Aire es Vida (Air is Life) in March 2015.
She released a new EP in June 2016 ahead of her latest record Izotz Erregina, this time composed entirely in Basque.

She has collaborated with artists such as Fermin Muguruza, Zein da Zein, Maria Rivero, Enkore, DJ Stepi and others.

La Basu featuring Aneguria is part of the Eskina Femenina project which supports women within hip hop culture. They offer writing workshops and set up events with all those women who decide to take to the stage, providing them with the space they deserve within the music scene.
