Degree and PhD in Classical Philology from the University of Salamanca and was the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung grant. She studied Indology in both Bonn and Berlin. She is currently retired Full Professor of Indo-European Linguistics at the University of Salamanca. She has imparted regular classes on Sanskrit and organised several courses and conferences on Indo-European languages and classical Indian culture. She is the author of numerous research papers on general and theoretical linguistics, the philosophy of language and linguistics, translation theory, Vedic literature and Sanskrit, cultural, literary and philosophical comparison, music and language comparison, and aesthetic theory. Her books include Pensamiento y Cultura en la India Antigua (Akal, 1996), together with F. Rubio, La ciencia del brahmán. Once upanisad antiguas (Trotta, 2000) and Los poemas del ser y del no ser y sus lenguajes en la historia (Abada, 2017).
