Romain Graziani

Romain Graziani is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (rue d’Ulm) and a philosophy graduate. Following some initial work on logic and phenomenology, he later focussed on Chinese studies and completed his education at Cambridge University (Trinity College). He gained his PhD in Sinology in 2001 at Paris Diderot University, under the supervision of Mark Edward Lewis (Stanford University). He is currently Professor of East Asian studies at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon and teaches at the University of Geneva. A member of the Institut Universitaire de France, his research focusses on the social and intellectual history of Ancient China as well as aspects of contemporary philosophy. His publications include the following books, some of which have been translated into Spanish: Fictions philosophiques du Tchouang-tseu (Gallimard, 2006), Écrits de Maître Guan: les Quatre Traités de l’Art de l’esprit (Les Belles Lettres, 2011), Le corps dans le Taoïsme ancien (Les Belles Lettres, 2011) and Usages du vide. L’intelligence de l’action, de l’Europe à la Chine (Gallimard, 2019).
