Mar Coll (Barcelona 1981) is a filmmaker who lives in Barcelona. Her first film, TRES DIES AMB LA FAMILIA (2009), premiered at the Malaga Festival where it was awarded with three biznagas. She also won three Gaudís and the Goya for best new director.
In 2013 she premiered her second feature film, TOTS VOLEM EL MILLOR PER A ELLA, opening the Seminci in Valladolid. Nora Navas was awarded the Silver Spike as best actress. This role will also bring her other awards, including the Gaudí for Best Leading Actress and a Goya nomination.
In television fiction, she directed the miniseries MATAR AL PADRE ( 2017) for Movistar +, selected at the prestigious Series Manía festival, and ESTO NO ES SUECIA (2023), co-directed with Aina Clotet, awarded the Prix Europa and selected at this year's Canneseries.
She is currently awaiting the premiere of her third feature film, SALVE MARÍA, an adaptation of Katixa Agirre's book LAS MADRES NO, produced by Escándalo films and Elástica Films, selected in the official section of the prestigious Locarno international festival and awarded a mention from the jury and the third prize of the young jury.
She combines her work as director and screenwriter with teaching at the ESCAC film school.She has also worked as a project advisor in the framework of initiatives such as NOKA (a mentoring programme for women filmmakers promoted by Tabakalera), La incubadora (ECAM's feature film development programme), the Europa Creativa Desk MEDIA Euskadi script workshop, and the Spanish Film Academy residencies, among others.
