Trained at the Prague School of Film (FAMU) and the Munich School of Film (HFF), Jaione Camborda began her career as a director with renowned short films such as “Proba de Axilidade” and “Rapa das Bestas”.
Her first full-length feature film, “Arima”, was seen at the San Sebastian Film Festival and earned the Best Director Award in the New Waves section of the Seville European Film Festival and Best Film in the Márgenes festival’s Escáner section.
She has also been selected to participate in different laboratories and residencies such as the TIFF Filmmaker Lab at the Toronto International Film Festival, in ECAM’s La Incubadora – The Screen development programme, Ikusmira Berriak, organised by the San Sebastian Festival, Tabakalera-International Centre for Contemporary Culture and the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE), and has recently benefited from the TIFF Canada Goose grant.
Her latest film “O Corno” (2023) took home the Golden Shell from the San Sebastian Film Festival.
