SummerLab is a summer programme that brings together activists, researchers, creatives and the general public around the practices of experimental spaces, digital culture and areas related to mediation.
SummerLab was born in 2012 as a camp for creators, activists, artists and amateurs united by a passion for technology, free culture and open source experimental and creative practices. With the opening of Tabakalera in 2015, the meeting resituated its themes to bring together the activity that took place during the year both in Tabakalera and in the laboratory, with practices typical of experimental spaces, digital culture and areas related to mediation. In addition to appealing to activists, researchers and creatives, the call is extended to the general public. The aim of the meeting is to create a meeting point for different fields of action in an intensive five-day format.
Since 2024 SummerLab has evolved by offering, in addition to the annual meeting, a learning programme in the form of laboratories or practical workshops that will take place throughout the summer.
