Musicians from across the Basque Country face a common problem: learning from LIVE PERFORMANCES that already exist.
Years ago they stopped publishing official guitar tabs and sheet music. As such, those of us who want these things use the internet to find them, and end up with error-riddled versions, or use videos of their live performances in an attempt to decipher what and how these groups play. We want to recover knowledge of these pieces and offer them up to the public in an interactive, user-friendly format. We have started with the most common instruments: the guitar and bass.
Our project began in March of 2021 by recording Basque groups. Sara Zozaya, Huntza, Nøgen, Skakeitan, Olatz Salvador and other artists, as well as other artists that were representative of the culture but no longer actively perform, such as groups like Vendetta, Hesian, and Baldin Bada. The project was recorded in different locations: Bilbao’s ECCBI, Gaztain Estudioak/Estudios, the Irun School of Music, in some of the groups’ practice spaces… We are currently looking for a place where we can better develop the artistic aspect of the project. In addition to teaching videos, our platform offers exclusive interviews with artists. We are sharing them on social media so that the general public can discover more about the performances, material, and musical tastes of their idols.
