During the summer of 2016, Hirikilabs organised a simple astronomy programme due to the large number of astronomy enthusiasts and to the fact that it is one of the fields of science that is most open to citizen collaboration. This line of work took off in 2017, when collaboration started with the Aranzadi Science Society, its fellow traveller since then. This year a phenomenon of "astronomical" dimensions will take place in Tabakalera: a single topic can be seen across the work of many people in the project. As is often said in astronomy, part of the summer programme has been the result of a "chain of events".
The third edition of the Citizen astronomy gathering will therefore host a visit by Virginia García, an astronomer from Aranzadi, to the exhibition by Rosa Barba Drawn by the Pulse, inspired by Henrietta Swan Leavitt, a scale model astronomy workshop, astronomical outings to observe the Perseids from Cristina Enea Park and a talk.
In addition, this "astronomical summer" gives us an opportunity to whet our appetite with the longest total eclipse of the moon this century, which we can see from a privileged location: the Tabakalera prism.
