Through a carte blanche we celebrate the seventy editions of the Locarno Film Festival, which started on the evening of August 23, 1946 with an outdoor session in the gardens of the Grand Hotel. Its history and awards include the beginnings of Italian neorealism and the avant-garde movements of the young members of the French Nouvelle Vague; the discovery of the cinema behind the Iron Curtain in the Cold War years or the first exploration of the then unknown Far East cinema. Its aim, throughout these years, has always been very clear: “To look for the cinema of the future”.

A long history of discoveries, curiosity, risk and coherence has made it rendez-vous one of the most respected film events on the international scene. Its artistic director, Carlo Chatrian, has selected three films that have won awards in the history of the Festival and will visit us to present and celebrate the 70th anniversary.
