The aim of the workshop is to introduce the ecosystem of tools for the analysis and the visualization of the data without the need of knowledge of programming from the part of the assistants. In particular, every day it is orientated to an area: Acquisition and data processing, the world of the cartography and the analysis of networks. In spite of the fact that it will be entered thoroughly in the functionality of particular tools as Open Refine, CartoDB or Gephi, the idea of the workshop is to `draw´ the range of tools in order that the assistant is capable to the ending of having the necessary knowledge to choose the tool that is more suitable to the needs that will be came up. It is a workshop `to learn doing´ and it is necessary for the assistants to bring their laptops.
The program of the workshop is the following one:
April 1: Introtuction to the analysis of data: Stages.
- The hierarchy of the knowledge
- Tools of acquisition of information
- Analysis of information and tools
- Visualization of information and tools
- Cleanliness of information with Open Refine. Exercise
April 20: Introduction to the cartography.
- Systems of coordinates
- Types of projections
- Types of geographical information
- Tiling
- Tools
- Cartographies with CartoDB. Exercises.
April 21: Introduction to the analysis of networks.
- Graphs and metrics
- Social Networks
- Human perspectives about the SNA
- Introduction to the analysis of networks with Gephi. Exercises.
The aim of the workshop is to introduce the ecosystem of tools for analysing and visualizing data. To attend, it is not necessary to have a prior programming knowledge.
