In this workshop, we will experiment with visualising information captured from a variety of sensors (heat, humidity, signal strength, muscular strength) through the photography technique called lightpainting.

WHAT IS LIGHTPAINTING?

Lightpainting consists of drawing in photographs with light by playing with the shutter speed, the camera's sensor, and the creation of forms in the air. Used for the first time in 1914 by Frank Gilbreth and Lillian Moller Gilbreth, since then this analogue process has been employed as a source of creative experimentation in photography.

In this case, a programmable LED rod will be created, then used as a light source and means for creating complex forms and images in the air. The use, programming and modification of the open source tool Lightwand Kosmonaut will be taught in order to arm attendees with enough knowledge to be able to continue developing the ideas suggested during this activity on their own.

The workshop draws its inspiration from the work of the artist Timo.
