The Listening Observatory, a project coordinated by José Luis Espejo, Mikel R. Nieto and Xabier Erkizia for Donostia / San Sebastián 2016, European Capital Of Culture, invites us to think about the relationship between communication and citizenship through contemporary artistic creation, the limits of language, different sound barriers and the agreements that we reach in order to establish our coexistence.


This project pays attention to the realities that are found in the soundscape and demonstrates many of the hearing problems that affect us. For The Listening Observatory, language is not a communication tool which contains our main sounds but a way of life.
